holiday fun, rock n roll marathon, girl meets sewing machine (again!)

Vacation has been on my mind for quite a while. I’ve been counting down the days for the last two weeks because I don’t have to think about work starting today until January 2. This is my leisure time to reacquaint myself with all the simple things I enjoy and the ones that I absolutely hate.

ImageBefore vacation started, I got to enjoy the best holiday/birthday party with my awesome co-workers. We always have a lot of fun and this year was no different because we have quite the festive time with not one, but two birthdays to celebrate. This year’s theme was a Holiday Pajama-rama! Words cannot describe the amount of fun that was had. Pajamas, reindeer antlers, and bacon cinnamon waffles with omelets to match; it was the perfect last day of work for 2012.

Today was the start of my vacation. I wish I could I could say I did absolutely nothing, but alas I’m a busy lady. I picked up my running shoes (I loathe these beautiful Nike Free Run+ 3) and hit some serious pavement. 96 days. I committed myself to the Dallas Rock N Roll Half Marathon and training started this morning. This lady hates running. No love for it here, but I do love my friends and this love is enough for a commitment to run a half marathon. I won’t go into details, but the run was solid with a 5 minute warm up and cool down and 30 minutes of running with only a 2 minute walk (slow, but solid). I’ll count day one as a success.

Indigo LaRue and I spent some quality time together today, but all for him. You see I haven’t had any time to really treat this diva of a sewing machine with a nice gift. In good faith, I found a top of the line tutorial on Purls and Pleats and went after it. Take a look at the picture on the right! How gorgeous is that?!? The instructions were clear and concise, which is always a plus following online tutorials. Indigo seems to be extremely happy with the new cover, which is good considering he is about to become quite the workhorse with all the projects we have lined up in the next few days.
