quilt top, ice ice baby, & the most wonderful time of the year

DSCN0156Finally getting a chance to blog and man has it been quite the weekend. It’s been very fulfilling, even though I’ve been a little sick. This Texas weather has been haywire for my immune system; the constant up and down of these temperatures has not been fun for me.

Throughout it all, I did manage to pull together the pieces to my first quilt! Yippee, this has been so exciting for me to actually accomplish this task for me. I love finding abstract patterns and attempting to take them on. For my first quilt, I am tackling a flagstone quilt tutorial found on Bursting the Seams. Take a look at that picture to the right that my loving husband was so willing to pose for in order to me to show off my flashy work. Today was all about batting and a backing; this could possibly be one of the cutest things I put together. More pictures will follow!

iceexhibitAnother recap from the weekend was spending time at the Gaylord Texan for the Merry Madagascar! with one of my sweet dear friend Ramona and her ridiculously awesome family. Ramona is a firecracker and has so much life in her its infectious. Not only that, but her entire family is the same way! They are such a loving group and without fail make us feel like family every year when we get together for our annual family event. We got to experience Merry Madagascar! and eat the most amazing dinner at Bob’s Steak and Chop. It was a cherishing night with an amazing friend and her gracious family.

To end the weekend – my lovely and talented husband got all of our gifts ready for transport to the various houses we have to attend for Christmas. There are times when we both wish our families were not so large – but the payoff is always great in the end. Our nieces and nephews will have splendid gifts, because since we don’t have kids of our own we like to spoil them a little more than we really should.

For myself, this is the most wonderful time of the year. I love the holidays – the food, family time, and just the overall positive nature that comes with it. It’s the perfect time when everyone seems to enjoy surrounding themselves with love and affection. So from my family to yours, Happy Holidays!

After this Christmas – I am making the announcement of this blog on my personal Facebook. The date is not confirmed (nothing in my life really ever is confirmed), but for the most part this blog will be about my crafty endeavors. So stay on board and enjoy!
