WHAT A YEAR!
Really, I set a goal to really work on my fashion and style posts which I can happily report has worked out pretty well. My staple pieces have come together nicely and I’ve narrowed my niche down to reflect my personal style even more. It was a stellar year of fashion and I’m incredibly lucky that I’ve got an awesome photographer in Stephanie Drenka.
I went through all of my fashion/style posts and narrowed it down to 4 of my favorite looks for 2015. I won’t even lie, it wasn’t easy narrowing it down to these four looks. Let’s not waste any time!
This Target splurge has been one of the most amazing tanks I’ve ever purchased. It’s fun, comedic, and definitely garners a few stares whenever I wear it. This outfit was for a fun night out with friends at karaoke celebrating Stephanie’s birthday. With the jean jacket, plum pant, and studded boots this tank took on a hipster grunge look. A number of variations have been made on this outfit since I partied too hard the night this outfit was worn and ripped those pants….worth it!
2 | Velvet Holiday Skirt |
Seriously this is my favorite outfit out of all of our Diversity Chic trends this year. With my obsession with black and white stripes, along with this amazing skirt – everything fell into place perfectly. I was fortunate enough to wear this outfit to a fun gala at the Perot Museum and received quite a few compliments on the ensemble. What makes this outfit stand out even more for the year? The pictures of this skirt was so popular that LC by Lauren Conrad shared the image on their Instagram.
3 | Dotted Up Dress |
This was the first shoot that Stephanie and I embarked on together in Downtown Carrollton. With a tattered white wall, magic happened! This was suppose to be for a sponsored post for a jewelry company, but this Old Navy dotted t-shirt dress stole the spotlight. The dress was an impulse buy that was on clearance on the Old Navy website. I figured once it arrived that if I didn’t like it, I would return it. It’s easily become a fun piece that I can wear out and about for errands or during the night with friends.
4 | All About the Shoes |
Comfortable shoes, soft pants, and a classy top makes any outfit automatically a favorite. All of these elements made this a frequent outfit that I wore to work quite a bit of the summer. If you haven’t shopped Kallie Shoes, you need to do so. They are so comfortable and each purchase gives back for amazing causes. What this outfit taught me was that Old Navy has definitely stepped up their game when it comes to clothing? The soft pant in this outfit are another Old Navy steal that completed my life. This outfit was a constant staple that was professional and comfortable all wrapped in one.
So those are my favorite looks of the year. It wasn’t easy, but I managed it. What have I learned from a full year of Diversity Chic, fashion, and style posts? One quote sums up my entire journey this year of discovering myself:
“Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” — Rachel Zoe
You don’t have to wear the most expensive clothing or wear tight skin baring clothing to make a statement. By wearing what’s comfortable for your style, budget, and body type will get you far more respect any day.
Here’s to 2016!
