3 Books Every Creative Should Own

This year has been extremely enlightening and it’s still January! I’ve been sharing quite a few things about my creative lifestyle (decorating your creative space tips here) through this blog and I’m thrilled to continue that with a passion of mine.

Great books help you understand, and they help you feel understood. -John Green

I love books! The smell of them, the feel of them, the taste of them….ok, too far! I don’t really lick or eat book. You get the idea, I really enjoy books.

One of my challenges for this year was to defy my creative barriers. To challenge myself to a number of different outlets from crafting my personal projects in my home, writing and sharing more of my creative stories, and utilizing interactive books to spark those creative juices.

To help finish out January and the rest of the year, I’m sharing 3 books that every creative should own!

3 Books Creatives (2)

1 | My Future Listography

My Future Listography

This nifty little book was a gift from my sweet blog bestie, Stephanie Drenka, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s the perfect mindless interactive book that doesn’t box you into any commitments. From creating lists of people you would love to meet, cause you’d like to volunteer for, and future Halloween costume ideas – it’s a book that allows you to spark your creative juices. This book is all you can hope to do in life in a number of different facets.

2 | Rising Strong

Rising Strong

Words cannot describe how much of a fan of Brene Brown I am. Ever since Daring Greatly, I’ve slowly fallen into this obsession that she always seems to know exactly what I need in every phase of my life. Rising Strong is the book that every creative must read when they are doubting themselves in any fashion. The inside cover boldly proclaims that “When we deny our stories, they define use. When we own our stories, we get to write the ending.” For creatives in any manner, we all to often allow others to define how they see us and it brings us down. This book is all about taking control and being brave enough of our strong rising.

3 | The Book of Me, A Do-It-Yourself Memoir

The Book of ME A DIY Memoir

I deliberately added this book after Rising Strong because as creatives we all have our stories – we just have to rise up to sharing it in our own manner. This book was an impulse buy on Amazon and probably one of the greatest purchases I’ve ever made. It’s a step by step book to crafting your own memoir! How cool is that?!? It’s a book, a DIY manual to writing your own story, and a boost in your creative flow as you share your own story.

By all means, check out the above links (affiliate links) and purchase your books today. I promise you these books will not only get your creative juices flowing, but rejuvenate you throughout the rest of the year.

Be brave enough to live life creatively. The creative place where no one else has ever been. -Alan Alda

Here’s to the creatives making a difference in the world!

I’ve had Rising Strong in my Amazon cart forever, I think I might have to follow through with that purchase! I like all the books on this list! I have a 52 Weeks of Lists book that I use, similar to the first choice, and I really like the idea of The Book of Me. That’s another one I might need to check out!
