Dallas

Alex, I’ll take Weekends for 300!

Goodness, I have been stretching myself thin in the name of fun! Another weekend has come and gone with so much fun in tow, I have been plotting ways to get rich fast. I cannot express how amazing my weekend turned out to be. Yes, it’s been exhausting and I really wish I would allow myself some time to sleep…but I’ll have plenty of time to do that when I’m old.

The weekend kicked off with lunch with my lovely Girl Scout sistas – which was much needed because I missed both of them terribly. We went to our favorite lunch spot and of course, I had a margarita! In addition to our amazing lunch, we got to catch up on so much that is going on in our lives (babies, work, upcoming anniversaries, and much more). Cravings kicked in for my work wifey and the soon to be mommy went from wanting something sweet, but for only two seconds (not sure how that works). We went from  ice cream, to milkshakes, to candy, and finally settled on a new smoothie shop that opened in Downtown Carrollton. It was a HIT! The pregnant lady was happy and ready to head to her pedicure appointment – we went our separate ways, but definitely game planned for our next rendezvous.

I followed up my lunch date with an evening out with my forever friends. Friday night was a busy one of the cultural side of Dallas – we had our pick of Late Night at the Dallas Museum of Art, Late Night at the Crow, and of course Social Science at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science (aka the voyager). I spent my Friday evening at my lovely place of work, the voyager aka the Perot Museum. There is never a dull moment and I enjoyed myself – even when I found it very hard not to find something work-related to do. My friends had a blast and yes, we saw the dinosaurs! Talk about a great Friday – hands down, it was awesome!

As you may have read last week, I may have had to stick my foot in my mouth because of a certain Rangers game that I wasn’t invited to. To make a long story short, I threw a hissy fit and my loving husband made up for it big time with tickets to the Rangers game on Saturday night.

Tote and Headband to Match

Being the crafty lady that I am and my need to play for 15 minutes (which turned into 4 hours), I decided to make a bag to take to the game. Yes, a bag and with that amazing fabric that I purchased last week with the anchors! If you like to sew and need quick projects to make with as little and much fabric as you can find, go and like Sew Can She on Facebook. On April 16, they posted a tutorial for a tote bag and I had my heart set on making it….just didn’t think I would actually make time to get around to it. Let’s just give Brene Brown and her The Gifts of Imperfection a big thank you for helping me remember the value of rest and play (especially the play). Indigo LaRue and I were on a mission to start and complete The Flying Geese Tote, as seen on SewCanShe.com.

Let’s just say, I nailed it (with minimal flaws) and even managed to squeeze in a matching headband for the game!

The game was awesome and I got to spend time with my favorite guy. The Rangers showed up and played hard. We cheered and David made it on TV. He even made sure that we enjoyed our tradition of ballpark nachos with extra cheese and jalapenos. In the end, two home runs, fireworks, and a mark in the win column later – my weekend came to an end.

Now, I am counting down to the next one!

If you read this entire post, I love you. You’re a real pal and I truly value the fact that you read this little ol’ slice of my life. Thanks for being so great! Leave a comment, I promise you won’t regret it!
