Not my own!
We are no where near that point in our life to start thinking about babies, but Momma Bird is having baby number 3 – which just happens to be a girl!
Boys are fun and I do love them, but the fact that Megan is finally getting her little mini me after two precious boys is exhilarating. What better way to celebrate than to partner up with Indigo LaRue and make the most girly gift ever?!?
So remember early in March, I went on a fabric shopping spree….Indigo and I indulged in what I call the most outrageously loud fabric I may ever make something out of. During my fabric spree, this vibrant gem was on clearance at JoAnn’s – which I cannot believe I braved on a Saturday afternoon. I’m not too surprised that it was so easy to secure this fabric, because I’m sure nobody would be bold enough to figure out what to make with these print and the colors painting it.
The challenge was mine and I conquered it. After much debate with what I really wanted to make with this fabric and finally settled on a blanket. Babies can never have enough blankets! I cut my easy round edge blanket pattern on the funky fabric and my bright orange glitter backing. That was the easy part – we got a little tricky with adding a nice batting between those two layers. Any body who buys batting knows that the good stuff is expensive. You have to use every piece in order to get your money’s worth. I took every measure on using my scrap batting to make sure I had enough to cover the entire blanket. Basically, I made it work in my favor.
I’ll post the bigger pictures on my flickr account for your viewing pleasure. All in all, this was a fairly easy pattern to piece together if you need a quick gift for a baby shower. Unfortunately, this one is taken for a certain Baby Birdy I am more than eager to meet.
Have an awesome Sunday and gear up for a busy week! 18 days until I’m in North Carolina with Gidget!
