Becoming One of Dallas’ Young Leaders

We have to revisit those 29 before 29 again, because guess who got to mark another one off over the weekend -THIS LADY!

On my 29 before 29 list, I knew I wanted to join a young professionals group and even put out a call on Facebook for any other Dallasites advice. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been on the hunt and Mia was well aware of this (in fact, she shared a link with me with a ton of Dallas Young Professional Groups)….

Fast forward to Friday evening –

The S&M show pulled out their inner class due to Mia joining the DMA Young Professionals group, the Junior Associates. She had already attended a previous event and reached out to me weeks ago in regard to attending the Curator’s Choice. I figured it would be a great opportunity to hang out with Mia outside of our normal watering hole – Black Swan Saloon.

The Curator’s Choice was a perfectly planned event for the DMA Junior Associates to invite eager young professionals to be apart of their group. The food and drinks were abundant, the DJ spinned classy tunes, and the attendees were dressed to impress for an evening of recruiting and mingling.

Before we embarked on the tour to meet a few curators and DMA staff members, the 2015 chairs gave a rousing speech on the Junior Associates group and the special perks of joining that evening. As I listened, I made sure to look at Mia as she saw my resolve disappear.

Well, the DMA Junior Associates won me over on Friday evening!

I joined, we met a new friend, and my look was flawless (more on that later this week).

 9. Join Toastmaster or a Young Professionals Group

Consider another realization marked off the list!

Cheers to 29!
