I am still reeling in the marvel of Beyonce’s blind release of BEYONCE. To say that I am just a Beyonce fan is an understatement, she breathes life into me. Her growth and maturity over the years, has taught me so much since the 1998 release of Destiny’s Child. I remember singing No, No, No in my bedroom thinking about all the boys who did me wrong.
I digress – Beyonce has been on heavy rotation during this first week of classes and work. Traffic coming home is horrible, so I have a good 45 minutes to an hour to just simmer in the sweet serenades of the queen herself. My playlist has a few of the older tracks, but I am still in heaven with BEYONCE.
Through it all, I have identified a few lines that basically could define life as we know it.
Perfection is a disease of a nation, pretty hurts, pretty hurts. -Pretty Hurts
Truest statement on the album. Hands down. Perfection is a battle that both men and women face in our society today. The standards of trying to reach that perfect status is ridiculous. The message with this one line alone is enough to make you stop and smell the roses. Oh and this song transcends everything with this cover.
Probably won’t make no money off this, oh well… -Ghost
Simply put, Beyonce got jokes. Really B, you won’t make any money off of this amazeballs album that I nearly had serious heart palpitations over. Not only did I buy it on iTunes, I got a physically copy of the CD/DVD. Joke’s on you (and all of us).
But don’t think I’m just his little wife -Yonce
THANK YOU – Just because I got married, doesn’t mean I’ve not a person. I hate when I am classified as a his wife. My credentials far exceed that. A grad student, with goals, a job, ambition, and so much more. Don’t you ever think, I am just his little wife. This is a mutual understanding that we both run this (but I run this more, Beyonce also made that clear).
I’m about to get into this girls, this is for all my grown women out there. – Blow
Hello, liberated grown woman. Beyonce goes hard with her sexual freedom. She is a wife, mother, and owns it. Let’s all just join in and have fun with her.
I sneezed on the beat and the beat got sicker. -Yonce
A sneeze will do the trick. Beyonce reigns supreme in letting everyone know that it doesn’t take much for her to produce a hit. Recognize.
He like to call me Peaches when we get this nasty. – Partition
As soon as this line was uttered, I instantly started thinking of what my nasty girl name was. Nothing has come to mind, but you bet your bottom dollar I am going to have one as soon as inspiration hits.
Let me sit this ass on you. – Rocket
Slowing the beat down and screaming to the world – I AM WOMAN, HEAR ME ROAR. If there is one video you need to watch first on the visual album, it’s this one. Be comfortable in your own skin and never be afraid to just sit it on them.
I woke up like this! -Flawless
This line is comical, because every female used it as their caption after they first heard this song. It’s a permanent fixture for Facebook and Instagram. Every single morning, my afro is perfectly styled and I am fresh faced, ready for a new day….after about 30 minutes of prep time that is.
And just like you I can’t be scared – Superpower
Beyonce summed it up with this line – fear is obsolete in 2014. It has no place, it does not exist. No reason to be scared. It’s like she can read my mind or something….
I’ve been drinking watermelon... -Drunk in Love
“I hold a lot of things in. I’m always making sure everybody is okay. I usually don’t rage; I usually don’t curse. So for me, it’s a great thing to be able to scream and say whatever I want.” -Beyonce Knowles
Happy Friday people! I’m off to run errands and get ready for a night of fun with my lovely friends. We may be spending a little bit of time at my place of work, the voyager, for an adults only event. There will be bars, so grant me the strength not to make a drunken fool of myself!
