Black Tie Dinner 2014 Sneak Peek

Hey y’all I’ve been knee deep in my weekend, but I wanted to put this out in the universe while it was still fresh on my mind.

On Thursday evening, I had the pleasure of attending the 2014 Black Tie Dinner Sneak Peek at Park Place Mercedes-Benz.

I’m lucky enough to know a board member (who is practically family) that invited me to attend the free Black Tie IMG_9146Dinner Sneak Peek. What made it even better is that his niece is one of my nearest and dearest friends since 5th grade, so we got to be each other plus one to the drink and mingle. They had great  hors d’oeuvres and complimentary cocktails by Stoli Vodka. The bartenders made sure to pour my vodka extra heavy as I sipped on an extra strong Stoli Blueberi Lemonade made with Stoli Blueberry Vodka. It was delicious! The turnout was great and I didn’t miss an opportunity; you give a girl a step & repeat, you bet your bottom dollar she’s going to pretend to be a celebrity!

If you are not familiar with the Black Tie Dinner, here is a direct excerpt from the website blacktie.org:

Since its inception in 1982, Black Tie Dinner has been the largest fund raising dinner for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community in the nation. To date, Black Tie Dinner has raised over $18 million. Black Tie Dinner, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

The mission statement speaks volumes as well on the work that this wonderful dinner contributes each year:

Black Tie Dinner is a non-profit organization that raises funds for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) supportive organizations serving North Texas through a premier event of empowerment, education and entertainment in partnership with the community.

The theme for this year is FORWARD and it is very appropriate for all the progress that is happening to equal rights for the LGBT community. The work that  is constantly happening to honor all of our friends and families that just want the right to love and be treated fairly needs to happen now. I’m on board to being apart of this FORWARD movement, in any way possible.

This is why I’m writing this blog. This is why I am making an effort to share the work that the Black Tie Dinner is achieving each year with this amazing night of appreciation.
