Diversity Chic: Accessorize Appropriately

Here we are for our April edition of Diversity Chic. Dallas has been slammed with a lot of wet weather, so our original scheduled date ended up being pushed back a week. What matters is that we are here and ready to tackle yet another fun and fashionable trend.

If you are new to this series, get the low down on what this unique series is all about:

Diversity Chic is a collaboration of Dallas bloggers showcasing current fashion trends on a variety of skin tones, hair colors, body types and heights. Each month we will feature a new trend tailored to our personalities and style.

Our focus is to explore the world of fashion in its unique, diverse, and stylish manner – one trend at a time.

This month, we’re tackling accessories; because here’s the thing, accessories are a must.

Whether it’s a simple pair of earrings, a statement necklace, or an arm party of bracelets – you can be a showstopper in your own unique way. Yes, even if you end up at a party with the same outfit as someone else.

About the Outfit

I can accessorize with just about any outfit, but really wanted the focus to stay on the accessories so I opted for a simple navy shift dress. We have finally had a few days without torrential downpours, so I’ve been taking full advantage of wearing my dresses and gladiator sandals out and about. I love a simple dress to showcase the fun pieces that I tend to wear with my outfits. To make this outfit stand out, I paired the Vera Bradley Exotic Floral Ella Tote and Kendra Scott Carole Necklace. The bright colors in the tote paired well with the lilac stone of the Carole Necklace. It’s a perfect look for a warm spring day out and about running errands or meeting friends for brunch. Since Kendra Scott is so fashion forward, you could always get the matching errands to match your necklace.

About the Trend

Accessories can make an entire outfit. Whether its the jewelry you’re wearing or handbag you’re carrying – it’s important to always consider what impact it makes on your style. Not long ago, I didn’t understand the value of accessorizing. I’ve made it a priority to pair every outfit with a necklace or fun handbag. The power to add dimension and flair to a simple shift dress with a bold patterned purse or jaw-dropping earrings sets you apart. With so many new companies (i.e. Kendra Scott, Vera Bradley, or Baublebar), stepping their game up in the accessories they offer for fashion mavens – it’s time to take notice.

Accessories make for the most perfect Mother’s Day and graduation present, which is why we are forever grateful for The Vintage House!
