This month was suppose to be a fun 4th of July photoshoot, but we ended up going shopping together for organizational items at the new At Home in Farmers Branch. We were exhausted from being out in the heat at an event and couldn’t fathom trying to stand outside any longer once we got back in the car to cool air. Over the last few weeks, we’ve been brainstorming different ideas on what to tackle this month. As soon as chambray was mentioned, we were all on board.
If you are new to the movement:
Diversity Chic is a collaboration of Dallas bloggers showcasing current fashion trends on a variety of skin tones, hair colors, body types and heights. Each month we will feature a new trend tailored to our personalities and style. Our focus is to explore the world of fashion in its unique, diverse, and stylish manner – one trend at a time.
For this installment, we invited Jaclyn of Jaclyn Mittman to join us because she rocks chambray better than anyone else. Every shoot, I am always blown away with how fantastic they turn out and this time was no different. Let’s not waste any time!
About the Outfit
I’ll be honest and let you know that this summer has been very odd for me. Since I’ve started my fitness journey, I haven’t been too eager to buy myself new clothes. The constant fluctuations of my weight and the muscle I have gained has made it hard to go out and splurge on myself. When we came up with the theme for this month’s Diversity Chic, I knew that I would have to overcome my shopping fear for the shoot. I typically try to limit my purchases for Diversity Chic because I really enjoy utilizing the staple pieces in my closet. It wasn’t an option this time around.
I started and ended my shopping for my coveted piece for this month with an Amazon purchase. What are the odds that this amazing top would work perfectly! I knew I wanted a darker wash because my other chambray pieces are very light. I placed the order and crossed my fingers that it fit.
As you can see, it easily has become one of my favorite pieces in my closet. I paired it with a pair of lightweight shorts from Old Navy, cute tan chunky heel sandals, my JORD wood watch, and a few other simple accessories.
About the Trend
Chambray is in. You can find it just about anywhere and it looks great on everyone. What I’m totally digging about chambray is that its the perfect way to compliment this Texas heat, even though lately this heat has been no joke. It’s lightweight and so trendy! Besides complementing the Texas heat, chambray goes along with a number of different patterns. From striped shorts, animal print, denim, tribal prints, and much more – chambray has a universal way of matching with just about anything.
