If you are new to the movement, learn more about it below:
Diversity Chic is a collaboration of Dallas bloggers showcasing current fashion trends on a variety of skin tones, hair colors, body types and heights. Each month we will feature a new trend tailored to our personalities and style.
Our focus is to explore the world of fashion in its unique, diverse, and stylish manner – one trend at a time.
With summer in full swing, we decided to take a stab at summer sandals which turned into a sub trend of florals. Let me warn you now, I am far from a shoe model and my outfit was an impulse buy while I was shopping at Cato Fashions. It was 100 degrees and the wind was definitely a factor, so forgive me if I look a little winded!
Let’s discuss my look –
About the Outfit
It’s too hot to be wearing any kind of closed toe shoes in Dallas right now. I’ve been miserable in my TOMS and closed toe flats for work are only working because I’m not outside walking around. These wedges are the perfect sandal for on the go and work.
For this month’s Diversity Chic, I opted to go with a bright and festive floral affair to pair with these black sandals. It’s summer and I am a huge fan of bright colors, so when I came across this skirt at Cato for a mere $6 – it was end game. The skirt screams my name and David couldn’t stop talking about how perfect it was. If you know me, I’m a love of all things bright. Since the skirt was so busy with a colorful floral pattern, I found this sheer striped yellow tank top at Cato that paired extremely well with the skirt.
To tie the entire outfit together, I snagged my Cleobella clutch from The Vintage House and threw on a colorful statement necklace for added flair! Overall, even though it was ridiculous hot outside – this outfit is perfect for brunch on a patio or a happy hour featuring margaritas.
About the Trend
You can’t really go wrong with sandals and florals during the spring and summer seasons. They go hand in hand with each other. I prefer my florals vibrant to compliment my dark skin. As for sandals, I found these wedges for a great price and opted to buy them. My sandals vary in style and these seemed fitting for dressing up and down.
