Happy end of May friends! I’ll be honest with you, this month has been a whirlwind for Diversity Chic. A lot of excitement is happening in our lives with new jobs, big moves, and a little Diversity Chic baby girl on the way. We are gracefully attempting to find our new normal with all of these exciting changes. Luckily we did manage to snap photos for this month’s theme, flower power or florals.
If you’re new to this whole movement, let me give you a quick rundown of what Diversity Chic is all about:
Diversity Chic is a collaboration of Dallas bloggers showcasing current fashion trends on a variety of skin tones, hair colors, body types, and heights. Each month we will feature a new trend tailored to our personalities and style. Our focus is to explore the world of fashion in its unique, diverse, and stylish manner – one trend at a time.
The beauty of Diversity Chic is that before all of this, we are friends. So stick with us as we navigate the next few months with all of our life milestones. I promise you, it’ll be worth it. As for now, let’s get into this month’s last minute look and trend!
About the Look: Flower Power in Pristine Bump Style
Over the last month, my pregnancy fashion has hit pristine bump style. This floral dress has been my saving grace whenever I need to feel like a real human at work. The soft material doesn’t hug the bump and allows a lot of airflow when I feel like I’m about to sweat through everything else.
I love the flow and muted colors of this dress. It moves well and has done such a great job accommodating the growing bump over these last few weeks. Anytime you can find a dress that isn’t constricting for pregnancy is a win. The floral pattern also does a really good job of distracting from the fact that I am much larger than normal these days.
For a maternity dress, I was very surprised at all of the compliments that I’ve received on this look each time I wear it. So much so that I am planning on getting it altered to fit better for my post baby body! Since the weather has been pretty up and down, I opted to pair this look with some nice trendy closed toe sandals. Heels are out of the question these days and if I could pull it off I would wear sneakers every day.
About the Trend: Flower Power is what you make of it!
Floral prints can be very daunting for people. They easily can come off as frilly and over the top if you don’t find the right print. What I love is that we all took a unique approach to how we interpret floral patterns for our personalities.
My floral print is very bohemian and fits with my hippie style that still includes lots of bright colors. The colors aren’t too spring-like and can easily be paired with a variety of different items in the future. With my plans to have this dress altered, the colors are going to seamlessly go into the cooler weather. It’s going to be a great post-pregnancy look! I look forward to throwing my jean jacket on with it in the fall. When the weather gets even cooler, it’ll be nice to layer it with a ton of scarves for a winter look.
