We are back for our February edition of Diversity Chic! If you weren’t around for January, you can check it out here. And if you need a refresher about this movement….
Diversity Chic is a collaboration of Dallas bloggers showcasing current fashion trends on a variety of skin tones, hair colors, body types and heights. Each month we will feature a new trend tailored to our personalities and style.
Our focus is to explore the world of fashion in its unique, diverse, and stylish manner – one trend at a time.
This month our stylish team decided to tackle leopard print. Let’s face it, leopard is the new black! Each of us styled the trend in our own manner and I’m thrilled to share my contribution.
Let’s discuss my look –
About the Outfit
Casual Identity Leopard Vest ($16, Similar) | Between Me & You Cream Sweater ($20, Similar) | Mossimo Black Stretch Pant ($27.99, Similar) | Vintage Rose Wrap Ornate Earrings ($15, Similar) | Sock Dreams O Basics, Rust ($7, Exact) | Bare Traps Joey, Black ($55, Exact)
Dallas has been in this weird phase with the weather and of course the day of our shoot a cold front was blowing across the metroplex. I’ve been sick, so I opted to wear layers and it gave me an even better excuse to pull out my leopard vest. What I love about this vest is that its so versatile and fits amazing with so many different outfits.
I wanted to go with a more casual look for this shoot, so I pulled out my black skinny pant and a comfy oversized cream sweater. What I can attest to doing well is comfort with style! You don’t have to wear a hoodie and yoga pants to be comfortable. This outfit scream stylish yet, if I want to just hang out and run errands I can without feeling like I’m overdressed. Besides the vest, these boots that I’m wearing are some of the most comfortable riding boots I’ve ever worn. The arch support was key when I purchased them and they haven’t disappointed. To break up the pants and boots, I added a nice thick pair of Sock Dreams O Basics in Rust to compliment the vest and add an additional pop of color.
After the shoot, I didn’t feel so guilty going to Twisted Root Burger and having a white chocolate raspberry milkshake!
About the Trend
Leopard is basically a neutral these days. You can pair this trend with just about any outfit and it will look phenomenal. Leopard comes in a variety of different shades, but not only shades – clothing. You can find this trend on scarves, vest, shirts, shoes, belt, and that’s just to name a few! With the shade of leopard, I went with on my vest – it works well with my the darker hues of my skin tone. I like to believe that my chocolate hue makes the orange interior of the vest more vibrant. I own about 5-6 pieces of leopard print items that are used to add a wild pop to various outfits I piece together.
This trend worked really well on each of us and leopard has quickly become a staple in many closets. This month we once again all managed to wear something completely different to showcase the diversity in our own manner. Curious about the other looks….be sure to check out the other fabulous ladies of Diversity Chic!
