January 2016, year two of Diversity Chic! It is so crazy that we are going into our second year of Diversity Chic.
If you are new to the movement of Diversity Chic, learn more about it below:
Diversity Chic is a collaboration of Dallas bloggers showcasing current fashion trends on a variety of skin tones, hair colors, body types and heights. Each month we will feature a new trend tailored to our personalities and style.
Our focus is to explore the world of fashion in its unique, diverse, and stylish manner – one trend at a time.
Jordan has been traveling for work, so we’ve been making it work by asking quite a few of our fashionable friends to join us each month for the ride. This month we are caped crusaders in our ponchos/capes and are joined by the always fashionable Christian of Christian Alexander Fashion!
We are looking forward to having the gang all back together next month, so leave your ideas of what you would like to see from us in the comments!
Are you ready for January’s look? Let’s get into it!
About the Outfit
First off, I have to thank my amazing salt to my peppa Elizabeth for getting me this amazing poncho for my birthday. She even mentioned in my birthday card that she picked this out for Diversity Chic. You got it girl!
I wanted something comfortable for this month and this poncho was easy to style with comfort in mind. My entire look is catering to the casually weekend lady who is out and about running errands – but never sacrificing a moment of her style while getting it done. The colors in this poncho were perfect for transitioning from fall to winter and match quite a few items in my wardrobe. Since Dallas winters can be unpredictable (and the day we were shooting, it was bone chilling cold), I paired my poncho with an oversized crochet scarf made by Heather of The Best Friend Book Club. She made this scarf for me a few years ago and I seriously love it.
To round out the outfit I added a little flair with Bourbon and Boweties bangle and Kendra Scott Morgan Studs from The Vintage House and felt like a stylish babe.
About the Trend
Ponchos or capes – whatever you may call it – instantly become your own once you style it that way you like it. Christian killed it by showing a trendy new way of throwing a poncho over a blazer for a unique look. Valery, my statement necklace queen, lived up to her name by adding a bold oversized bib on top of her poncho. While Stephanie took my breath away with her classic, sleek, and high fashion styled poncho. Ponchos are a versatile staple that you MUST own!
