Wop bop a loo bop a lop bom bom!
June Diversity Chic is here! Mercury left retrograde and the stars aligned to grace us with the perfect opportunity to get together for this month’s edition.
If you are new to this, let me tell you a little about this movement:
Diversity Chic is a collaboration of Dallas bloggers showcasing current fashion trends on a variety of skin tones, hair colors, body types and heights. Each month we will feature a new trend tailored to our personalities and style.
Our focus is to explore the world of fashion in its unique, diverse, and stylish manner – one trend at a time.
Can I please share how excited I’ve been for this month since we decided on the trend?!? What made it more exciting is that we were able to peg another awesome shoot location for this month. Without further ado, let’s take a bite out of this month’s trend!
Let’s discuss my look –
About the Outfit
When we decided on this trend, I knew exactly what I was going to wear. This amazing gold foil pineapple tank is quite possible one of my favorite tanks in my closet. It’s soft and lightweight, with just a little bit of flair – it was also a gift from one of my best friends.
After last month’s trend, I wanted to make this a very casual and carefree summer look. So pairing the tank with a skirt for the summer months was a perfect idea. I’ll confess it was tough for me to actually wear this skirt, but for a F21 purchase it was worth it. I typically do not like to show my legs, because I’ve got thighs for days. It fits just right and shows off quite a bit of leg. My only downfall for this photo shoot was that the wind was definitely around.
Even though it has been a little warm here in Dallas, you never know what the weather will do. When wearing white, I always tend to bring a light coat with me in case of the torrential downpour that may come out of nowhere. This cargo jacket is seriously one of my favorite pieces to throw with so many of my outfits. I frequently pair it with business casual outfits for work!
The white sneakers were the perfect casual look to hit up snow cones and a quick dinner with friends. I was comfortable and didn’t feel like my legs were too long for the skirt that I was wearing. All in all, it was the perfect summer outfit!
About the Trend
Face it, fruit is all the sweet rage right now. Whether it’s pineapples, watermelon, strawberries, or lemons – if you are wearing fruit you are doing life right. What I love about this month is that we each showed up with a different take on styling our fruit themed ensembles. Each style worked well not only with our personalities, but the fruit we each styled.
Personally, the summer is the best time to get out all of your fruit patterns out of the way. Summer is all about the bright and whimsical wardrobe and any type of fruit will pretty much fit the bill.
Curious about the other looks….be sure to check out the other fabulous ladies of Diversity Chic!
