Fall has FINALLY arrived here in Dallas and I could jump with joy. I’ve pulled out all my sweaters, scarves, ponchos, but most importantly my vests! It wasn’t until last fall/winter that I learned how much I adored vests. Since then they have become a constant staple of my fall/winter wardrobe. I was very excited for Diversity Chic to tackle this trend, because we are all have very distinctive styles that translate well for a variety of different individuals.

Let’s discuss my look –
About the Outfit
Can we please talk about my obsession with all things fall? From the weather, the transition from frappuccinos to lattes, and the holidays creeping up on us – fall is the ultimate season for me. The weather finally hits a perfect temperature that I can pull out all of my fall staples. This outfit basically incorporates all of my favorite things that involve fall. From leggings, oversized shirts, and the perfect neutral satchel, this outfit was definitely me in my element. I’m a sucker for comfort and the fall weather allows me to embrace that, so patterned leggings are a must for a vast majority of my fall wardrobe. They can easily be paired with a solid tunic, dresses, and booties for a day at work or night out with friends. With my booties, the colder it gets the easier it is to throw some thick socks on to keep warm. The vest is an added bonus that adds character and flair to the outfit.
About the Trend
As I mentioned before, last fall was when I really started incorporating vests into my wardrobe. I can actually tell you that before last year, the only one I can remember owning was a Old Navy performance fleece vest back in middle school (dating myself with that one). Ever since my rediscovery of this fall must have, I have been known to pair my variety of vest in my closet with leggings, jeans, and dresses. What I love about the faux fur vest in the outfit this month is that it has a lot of hidden benefits to it. While it’s extremely soft and warm, it’s not too heavy for all day wear. You don’t have to remove it when you get to work because of any added bulk. Another perk to this vest is that not only does it have pockets, but it dons a hood for those times you may get caught in a fall drizzle. Vests have become a staple with just about any outfit for the fall and winter transition that you really shouldn’t cheat yourself out of wearing them. Add a belt, throw on some plaid, pair it with you favorite skirt – the possibilities are endless.
