I’ll be the first to say I was hesitant when I was contacted by RealSelf to work with Dallas Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Stephanie Teotia. I’ve gone through different phases in my life where I totally thought I was going to get a number of procedures done (breast implants were always at the top of my list) and then vehemently turned against any thought of plastic surgery in any manner (partly because I grew into a full C cup).
After doing a little research on Dr. Teotia, her practice, and everything she offered – my whole thought process on “plastic surgery” was drastically altered and I decided to give it a shot. In my mind, I’ve always assumed plastic surgery was for those outrageous procedures of breast implants, botox parties, and changing your appearance to become unrecognizable.
Since I was a teenager, I’ve always been protective of my face. From a young age my older sister taught me the fundamentals of skincare with Ambi and Noxzema helping to cleanse and moisturize my pores.
Since moving back to Texas, this weather and allergy season has not been kind to my skin. It’s been an uphill battle since 2010 with dry skin and frequent breakouts of acne. When I arrived at Dr. Teotia’s office, I knew I was going to make the decision for a skincare procedure. This is when I realized the level of professionalism and knowledge that her entire office staff would give me on my procedure decision. We sat down and discussed my current skincare regime, went over what procedure would be best for my skin.
After much discussion and some laughter, we decided that the microdermabrasion would be best. Karen, the licensed esthetician, whisked me off to one of the procedure rooms to get started.
Can I say that this was one of the most divine experiences of my life?!? Karen explained that microdermabrasion consists of tiny crystals scrubbed onto the skin to gently remove the outer layer. It was the best exfoliation and instantly afterwards I could tell a difference. My skin felt so rejuvenated!
It’s been about two weeks since my procedure and I can still tell a difference. After washing my face and using my moisturizer, my skin has a glow and shine that has carried over the last two weeks. Karen was even kind enough to follow up just last week asking how my skin was doing, which gave me an opportunity to explore possibly going in for another round of microdermabrasion.
I’m going for the fresh face look these days!
