Fabric Mania!

As promised, the spoils of my weekend! Between Friday and Saturday, I spent so much time out of the house running around picking up fabric and planning for my next few projects over the weeks. With school, work, and training for the half marathon – I am going to start scheduling sewing/craft time into my schedule.

You know your life is one big busy mess when you need to schedule craft time. It’ll get easier….I think, I hope.

Friday was my quick stop at Hobby Lobby to pick up more fabric for my personal quilt. Since I changed directions of where I wanted to go with my quilt, I needed more fabric. That was a quick and easy stop. I restrained myself from splurging on all the cute spring fabric they had because I knew what Saturday had in store for me.

This weekend finally gave me the opportunity to hang out with one of my meet up groups, Sew Modern Dallas Chicks. We met at this awesome fabric store in Plano called Fabric Fanatics, which I think I have a new obsession with. The ladies are fantastic, which is wonderful to look forward to all the future meet ups. I needed a group of women who enjoy sewing as much as I do. All the different projects that we talked about and activities going on in our lives was so real. I am just thrilled at getting to know new friends.

As we were hanging out at Fabric Fanatics, this adorable lady by the name of PJ walked in with a fancy quilt top. That was the beginning of the end for me. I’m new to this quilting hobby and since I don’t have much time to draw my  inspiration from the interwebs as much as I would like – PJ was a gift from heaven.

Yours truly just added two more quilts to her list with the 1600 Jelly Roll challenge!  PJ showed me her quilt top and I was mesmerized by the colors. She then described to me that she finished the entire quilt top in an hour. I was sold. Just google the 1600 Jelly Roll and get ready for your next guilty pleasure.

So project round up:

  • Cupcake Quilt – Yes, I just need to quilt and bind this daunting piece.
  • My Own Quilt – Need to finish piecing squares and adding borders.
  • Chrissy’s Quilt – Border needs to be added, need to find backing and get batting.
  • Baby Blanket
  • New pillowcases

Another few steps closer to my sewing goddess status!

If only I would take the time to cut some fabric, then Indigo LaRue and I will be on our way….
