Dallas Comic Con #FanDays Spring 2016

If you are a fan of any kind of fandom, you are more than familiar with Dallas Comic Con and more importantly, #FanDays.

This weekend I had the pleasure of attending what quite possibly could’ve been the most attended Fan Days at the Irving Convention Center. With the powerhouse cast of the CW’s Arrow in attendance (including stars Stephen Amell and John Barrowman), fan favorite from CW’s The Flash Robbie Amell, and a special reunion between the Dukes of Hazzards cast (including General Lee) – this was the event to be at this weekend.

The Fan Days organizer may have outdone themselves with this roundup of guests they lined up for this Spring edition of the event. We arrived and the Irving Convention Center was already overflowing with people clamouring to see their favorite stars. To be honest, I think the Irving Convention Center has finally outgrown the crowds they are drawing with the lineups they’ve been pulling together. With the buzz of excitement for what they day was to hold, we didn’t waste any time making our way to panels.

From Robbie Amell (The Flash), David Ramsey (Arrow), Brent Spiner (Star Trek: The Next Generation), and Will Friedle (Boy Meets World) – we got the inside scoop of these stars in the most intimate way. Fan Days was really all about entertaining and indulging the fans with behind the scenes secrets.

Fan Days also offered a new avenue of excitement with Stephen Amell and his ongoing feud with WWE superstar, Stardust. We were able to witness a special delivery during Stephen’s panel which definitely ended Saturday with bang!

Unlike the other cons I’ve attended, this time I took a chance and did a little “lite cosplaying” with my blogger besties. With the upcoming X-Men Apocalypse film, we decided to take a stab at some of our favorite characters and I like to think we did a pretty good job. It was definitely nice fitting in with the crowds of cosplayers and an easy starting point for us to step up our game.

In addition to our cosplaying, we made sure to nail our photo op for the weekend. Since Stephanie, Valery, and I are all pretty big Arrow fans we splurged (and split) on a photo with Stephen Amell and John Barrowman. We got there early, made sure everyone looked great, and readied ourselves for our picture. With the sheer amount of pictures these actors take, I’m impressed that they are even functioning the entire weekend. Both actors were pleasant (for the short amount of time we had to make this work) and we nailed our photo!

What I can say about this Fan Days is that I finally experienced a panel that I have heard so much about over the last few years at a number of different cons – John Barrowman. Honestly, I’m still processing how I have not experienced the greatness of John Barrowman. His panel was hands down one of the greatest things (besides Carrie Fisher at Dallas Comic Con Fan Expo 2015) that I have ever experienced. He was hilarious, honest, borderline vulgar, and the most charming celebrity you would want to just sit down and just spend the day listening to. My side was hurting so much at the end of his panel and I could barely wipe away the tears of laughter.

After this amazing weekend, I’m looking forward to Dallas Comic Con Fan Expo coming up on June 3-5. With Stan Lee returning and Jay & Silent Bob making their appearances, the Dallas Convention Center is more than equipped to handle all the additional guests announcements until the big event. Start saving your pennies, because tickets go on sale this Thursday, February 18.
