Home Sweet Home

IMG_8586If the vague updates via all of my social media accounts haven’t been enough, we are officially moving into our new home. It’s located in North Dallas in the Glen Meadow Estates and has a long way to go before its perfect.

Our move date is the end of this month, but right now we are in the process of making some much needed updates to the 1967 home.

There have been no renovations whatsoever to this home since it was built, so we had to make quite a few executive decisions before moving in.

Carpet was everywhere, the kitchen is straight 1967, and a new fence was needed before we could even think about moving the boys over! In addition to all of that, the process happened so fast that we haven’t even started packing our old house up. Since the timeline has accelerated so quickly, I’ve started securing boxes and will began packing up the current house.

I would be lying to myself if I told you that this is all fun and games, but this move is more stressful than ever. It’s like an episode of HGTV each day we set foot in the place and I am ready to see some progress.

As you can see, we have a lot of work to do on this place and its well under way. Most of our (David’s) spare time has been spent prepping the floors for our new flooring that will be put in this week. My entire body is still aching from pulling up tack strip from the living room, hall, and bedrooms – I officially hate carpet because of all the tack stripping!

While flooring is being completed, I will be packing our current house since we have already told our landlord we are moving at the end of this month. WHAT WERE WE THINKING?!? That’s just it, we were thinking. We just got so excited that we went for it!

So here we are about to be official residents of Dallas and making a home of our own. I cannot wait to share progress and updates, because if you follow me on pinterest you know the big plans I have for this place.

We’re excited and ready for the next chapter of our life!

WE CAN BE NEIGHBORS! Once we get everything set up, we can calculate exactly how far we are from each other and plan wine nights (plus so much more).

I am so crazy excited for you guys!! I know you’ve been looking for the perfect place for a while. I can’t wait to see it all set up and decorated! As a seasoned mover (four times since January of 2012) I find it easiest to just start in one room and go from there. LEAVE THE KITCHEN FOR LAST!!!! lol Also, Home Depot has “Moving Kits” that include a variety of sizes of boxes plus paper/bubble wrap/markers/tape. And the boxes are super sturdy. We got a bedroom moving kit and a kitchen moving kit when we were moving from Massachusetts to Maryland, we reused them to move to Texas and reused them again to move back to Maryland. Also, those giant plastic bins/tubs from Target are a God send!! I have like 8 of them and they’re great for clothes and towels and blankets and things, and then double as storage once you’re moved into the new place! Good luck with the move!!
