Goal Setting

Year Goals + January Small Goals

Life has been a whirlwind since rebranding this little space of the internet. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been knee deep in planning out my content and goals for the first quarter of the year. Working hard to hold me accountable in keeping up with the content and goals.

Last year, I watched as Valery linked up every month with Nicole from writes like a girl for her monthly small goals series. It was so intriguing watching everyone set small milestones to reach instead of focusing on the whole picture. I told myself that I would commit to the monthly small goals series for 2017, especially with all the changes happening in our life.

January Small Goals

This month was fairly easy for me to come up with small goals because I have had them written down before 2017 rolled around. I knew I wanted to have a head start on this year, so I prepared myself for January well ahead of time. Let’s make sure I can make the same commitment for February!

Refine budget for the next 6 months

With the impending arrival of our little unicorn, David and I are doubling down on our budget and spending habits. We are really working on getting ahead and saving up as much money as possible to make ourselves even more comfortable by the time the little one arrives. I can happily report that we’ve already revamped our Mint account and made significant slashes to parts of our budget that just aren’t necessary anymore. Ideally, I would really like to flesh out the next 6 months to make sure we are ready for this wee unicorn babe’s arrival.

Increase water intake

My water intake has slacked since Thanksgiving and I really need to get back into the habit. Of course, before my OB/GYN appointments, I’m guzzling down water like a champ to make sure I have no anxiety with leaving the urine sample. I need to break that habit! Thanks to Valery getting me the coolest new insulated cup for Christmas, I’m going to bust it out and take it to work every day.

Work on finalizing nursery and baby shower plans

Half a year away from the wee unicorn babe making her grand appearance, so we need to start thinking about living quarters. She’s actually going to need a place to live, play, and grow! David and I have started to really brainstorm ideas for her new digs. We want a place that not only grows with her but is aesthetically pleasing for mommy and daddy. As for the baby shower, I was able to meet with my sweet best friend (and godmother of DCW) and we nailed down two dates. Now to just put together my vision board of what I’m looking for and we are good to go.

Create new media kit

The new brand, new everything! First up, media kit. Why? It’s ridiculously overdue and it’s going to take a massive overhaul. I want to go for a fresh, crisp look that matches the new brand. It’s key to disassociate myself with all the hoopla I use to stress over when it came to blogging. I want to simplify my brand to match where my life is going these days.

Read a book

I’ve started 4 different books recently with a number of others piled up to read. I’m tackling the goal to finish at least one of the 4 books that I’ve already started this month. Seeing as I have 4 already started, I’m planning on grabbing the one that I’ve read the furthest in and knocking this goal out.

Going to conquer these 5 goals and report back next month!

The 2017 Year Goals

With commitments for the entire year, here are my yearly goals. These goals were thought well before 2016 ended and a few will align with my monthly small goals. I needed another place to revisit them besides my planner, so my accountability will be this blog.

Read 5 Books
Complete 52 Weeks of Simply Mommy Chronicles
DIY a create project every month
Write a handwritten note every month
Check credit score monthly
Shop small often!
Take calligraphy class with Alli K Design
Do 7 meaningful deeds in honor of my dad’s 70th birthday
Open college savings account for our tiny human
Finish 3 quilts

Here’s to hoping I can come and mark these off as I conquer them.

Your goals sound a lot like the goals I’ve been setting for myself. Especially drinking more water. And budgeting. And getting the baby shower and nursery area in our room ready. Oh man, so much to do! Love and blessings!

I love the monthly small goals link up! I’m looking forward to checking back with you each month!

As for your goals, water intake can be so hard! I feel like I will drink coffee all day if I don’t intentionally make sure I have water. My habit is to chug like 20 oz of water 3 times a day. Not the best strategy but it’s works for me.

I also like that you included your yearly goals! I have some similar ones, like writing more snail mail and shopping small.
