Monday Hangover: Let’s Chill

Let’s chill and let’s settle down
That’s what I wanna do, just me and you

-Let’s Chill by Guy, 1990

1. I cannot believe that this song was created in 1990. I was 4. In my defense, my older sister was 14 so she was a teenager when this song was out. Clearly, I was heavily influenced by her musical choices.

2. Let’s Chill was the motto to this entire weekend with David.

We did not have any big commitments for the blog and/or work, so when I say we got life in order – we got life in order (to an extent).  It’s not often that David and I have an entire weekend to ourselves without some sort of commitment.

Saturday consisted of errands galore. We made a list of places we needed (and some we wanted) to go to. Our errands consisted of a new dress (I earned it), groceries, home/bath essentials, dog food, and sweet treats. Here’s a visual map of Saturday to put just how crazy busy we were all over Dallas:

The day was pretty productive as we left our house at 10:30AM and finally made it home around 2:30PM. I’m looking forward to sharing the dress I scored at Neiman Marcus – it’s Badgley Mischka and I scored it for $50! Until then, I can share that we stopped at two of my favorite places in Dallas – JOY Macarons and Opening Bell. David was thrilled that the bought back the bananas foster macaron ice cream sandwich, while my mind was just on shoving macarons in my mouth.

Afterwards, we decided to cool down and grab my new favorite drink from Opening Bell – the green tea chai cooler. By the time we reached there, it was well nearing 100 degrees outside and something cool was much needed. I can’t rave about Opening Bell enough! It’s definitely one of my absolute favorite places ever. The treats, coffee, and atmosphere is everything that I love about Dallas.

The best part about the end of our day was going to Trader Joe’s and snagging groceries. David has been all about home cooked meals, which makes Trader Joe’s the perfect location for us. Our urge for impulse buying has definitely been cut off and I’ve managed to snag fresh flowers every visit. This week’s choice was this really funky plant by the name of celosia. They are sunning in my bedroom window and looking fabulous!

As for yesterday, we finally managed to get some things in our house in order. It started Saturday night when we opted to stay in after our long day of errands. We did dishes, prepared meals for the week, finished laundry, and managed to vacuum our entire home! Appreciate all of that hard work, because Netflix was definitely tempting me with my continued quest to refinish The X Files before January 2016.

Here we are at another Monday and I keep telling myself that I need a vacation. Maybe I’ll play a staycation for David and myself. We definitely could use it.

I used to work in Dallas and when my supervisor and her husband needed a break, they would get a hotel in downtown Fort Worth Saturday night and spend the weekend at the Botanic Gardens and West 7th restaurant/bar district. Sort of a combination of a mini-vacay/staycation! Disclaimer: I live in Fort Worth so I’m biased. 🙂
