As I went to peruse the good ol’ world of Facebook – Gidget posted the most awesome status about Moore Love for Moore, OK. The OKC Modern Quilt Guild has put forth one of the most amazing efforts for quilts to donate to all the individuals affected by the tornadoes that just demolished Oklahoma.
When the devastation happened in Oklahoma, I was at work and clueless to the whole situation. The images, the sounds, and videos that took over my television the night after all of this happened were heartbreaking. One of the videos stated it best, the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. To think that one minute this town had it all and the next you are searching through rubble to find just a shred of hope is surreal.
Life can never be taken for granted.
What better way to put a smile on someone’s face than to give them something to call their own?!?! I’ve decided to accept the challenge of making a quilt this weekend to send off to the OKC Modern Quilters.
For someone to hold a quilt made by me, especially for them is a way of just restoring an ounce of faith that it will be alright. The days will get easier and we are all here for Oklahoma as they recover. It’s not easy losing everything, but to have just one little piece of goodness to engulf you in life is all you need at a time like this.
So here I go! I’m thankful that I have such a caring friend with a huge heart to give back that can ignite a firestorm of people to rally behind her to make quilts to send off. I wasn’t the only one who answered the call on her FB status and I know I won’t be the last.
I’ve chosen my fabric and the pattern that I am going to work with. I cannot wait to share my finished product with you all.
Sew make a difference and join the fun!
