Pick Your Internet Battles Wisely

It’s not often that my blood gets boiling, but this was definitely one of those things that just ticked me off. I’m finally off of my anger high and in a sane state to actually type this out. I’m blogging about it because this is my place to talk about all the crap that really ticks me off (and David’s not home to listen to me rant). Another reason why I’m writing here, is to avoid going onto Facebook and lowering myself to a level of just petty arguing over the internet in comments. I’ve blogged about other things that pushed me to points that I just can’t let fly – those are here and here.  I also have warned that if you cross me, you will end up on my blog.

Case in point: people on Facebook who take their opinions to places that it really needs to not go. What happened to civilized conversations amongst adults? Why after my response you couldn’t refrain from your demeaning language and try to state your point in a clear and articulate manner. Better yet what happen to a little respect…It all started out with the simple question: for all of you that don’t live in CA, what state is your favorite to live in and why?

Not a hard question to answer, right?

Why couldn't he just leave it at this?

Why couldn’t he just leave it at this? I wouldn’t have gotten my panties in a bunch at just how disrespectful and rude someone could be.

Ignorant Answer 1No other opinions were needed, regardless of how bad you think those other places may or may not be.  I decided to address a few of the other responses, including his…

My frantic iPhone response to Mr. Garon

My frantic iPhone response to Mr. Garon

My dear friend Elizabeth and I hate when people state/city/town bash. Is it really necessary? Other people actually enjoy living in those states, cities, and small towns – they get married, raise children, and grow old in these places. Your mere (disrespectful and rude) opinion won’t change this. Mr. Garon had no problems being blatantly inconsiderate to two different cities and being the type of person I am, I stayed on the positive side of things (as requested in the original question).

Mr. Garon was not having my simple dignified response.

Ignorant Answer 2

Oh Mr. Garon, game on sir.

Let’s start from the beginning of your ignorant response –

I am actually well aware of the life around me. As a strong independent woman, I’ve had the privilege of earning both a Bachelors (3.8 GPA) and Masters (4.0 GPA) degree. Oh and that Masters is in the field of Criminology (we’ll touch on that later). Dallas was the perfect location (more specifically a suburb of Dallas, Carrollton) for my husband and I to relocate when he got out of the United States Marine Corps and wanted to start his college studies again. It’s been a good run for us economy wise, as we both were able to secure jobs in no time after graduating from our respective colleges. We also are fortunate to own a house in a very quiet neighborhood in Dallas with a very active homeowners association.

Now to address your Dallas/Fort Worth Area and Houston are being ranked some of the worst crime rates in the state of Texas. My question would be, are you familiar with FBI Uniform Crime Report? No, well let me explain it to you briefly. These are reports of official data on crime in the United States, published by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (heavily utilized in those classes that earned the perfect 4.0 GPA). They just released a report that has been circulating the internet regarding the 20 most dangerous cities in Texas, feel free to read it here. To make a long story short, DFW is ranked at 21, Austin at 12, and Houston at 7. To further prove my point, the top 50 safest cities in Texas are published here and guess what 7 of them are in North Texas. You’re more than welcome for those facts, its a shame you didn’t think to provide them.

As for my age actually I’m not 5 years old, I’m closing in at the ripe age of 28 and clearly more mature and intelligent than you will ever grow up to be. This is a fact because trust me, you still have quite a bit of growing up to do.

To answer your final question, yes I am upset. Upset that individuals like yourself exist and you don’t have the decency to refer to me by my name instead of lady. What you said about all of those cities were ridiculous and you really didn’t even think to support the facts that you were spewing on a Facebook status that asked the simple question of for all of you that don’t live in CA, what state is your favorite to live in and why.

*drops the mic*

It takes quite a bit to cause me to stand on my soapbox and pitch a fit. One of my least favorite things in this entire world is when anybody refers to me as a woman or lady. My mother and father gave me a name, so you better use it. Mr. Garon will go on believing that he had some sort of success in his half ass attempt at proving a point. I’m going to call this…GAME: BLOUSES.

If you have read all of this, I appreciate the fact that you took the time. I hope you understand why I spent over 2 hours composing myself and articulating exactly what I needed to post.

Now let’s return to my favorite celebration, Sevitember!

    Severina,

First, I love you. I love your wit, your sassiness, and your need to put assholes in their place (where they need being.)

HAHAHAHA. I love #SassySevi!! In all seriousness, because we both know that this is a super hypothetical statement and at least several years away, but you make me proud to live in Farmers Branch and confident that if I have kids while we live here, that they will get a great education in the district.

#SassySevi is both fabulous and also 100% right on all fronts. Mr. Garon got his ass handed to him by the birthday queen and I tip my hat to you my friend.

On a lighter note, HAPPY ALMOST BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!

*standing ovation* some people are much too quick to try to “win” a Facebook argument or to make a comment and then when someone disagrees with them it’s like they’ve been personally offended because not everyone shares their opninon. I’ve seen it happen too many times. You’re amazing. He’s ridiculous. End of story.

I am in total agreement with all the comments above. #SassySevi rules! I’m not even from Texas, but have lived here more than anywhere else and have been pretty damn happy. He clearly can’t read either….being that his response didn’t even remotely answer your question to begin with! I really enjoy reading your posts (sassy or not!) Keep ’em coming! <3

omg how am I just now reading this!? This dude is clearly a dumbass. “And second are five years old?” Cool, dude. Here’s the thing, even if you’re not crazy about the place you live (aka me, because I don’t really like Dallas that much), you’re totally right…there’s no need to be disrespectful. Obviously it’s not a shitty place to live or there wouldn’t be people constantly moving here and sprawling suburbs attaching themselves to the metroplex. This dude needs to chill out.
