Project Pirate, Aarrrraggghhh?!?

What to do?!? WHAT TO DO?!?!

You never take a man to a fabric shop and let him pick something out. A certain man, WareBear, when given too much freedom will take advantage of that freedom and pick something out that you seriously have no clue what to do with. Take for example, our trip this past weekend to CityCraft. Every time you check in there on Facebook, you get to pick out a fat quarter fo’ free! If you know me, I love me some free and I will virtually stretch a fat quarter until it’s mere scraps. Being the loving wife that I am, I wanted to make my main squeeze feel special by letting him pick out the fat quarter.

He picked the pirates.

What the hell am I suppose to do with a pirate fat quarter?!?! Someone please enlighten me to what WareBear was thinking when he picked the pirate fat quarter. It would be understandable if we had a little mulatto baby boy running around that I could whip a quick project up for, but we have 3 rambunctious dogs that I dare not put a paper towel in front of in the sheer fear that it will become shreds in seconds.

So here I am stuck with a pirate fat quarter with no idea on where to start. So I’m reaching out to you guys – what to do?!? Leave me a comment and help a lady out!

IMG_5879On a much brighter note, I pulled out the next project that I plan on taking on. I have been wanting a quilt to take out and about for picnics during the fall. In order for it to actually be complete, I need to start on it now. My aura always has been drawn to earthy subtle tones. It gives me this connection to the earth and a draws me into a peaceful zone. The serenity in the warm colors are a perfect match to my soothing soul. I haven’t really mapped out if I am going to follow one of the numerous quilting books or just fly by the seat of my pants.

Knowing me, I’ll definitely fly by the seat of my pants and just piece together something that looks decent. I like to keep things fresh and exciting over here!

For the pirate fabric- use it as the lining in a new male travel bag for David. Or make a pillow for him, with comfy fabric on one side & pirate on the other. Or eventually make a quilt for him out of all of the fat quarters you let him pick out. Boom goes the dynamite.

All good ideas! I like the cup holder, maybe like a coffee sleeve. I would force him to use it all the time!

I think all the other ideas are great! I’m partial to the coffee sleeve idea, but that’s because I’m a coffee addict! I also love your idea for a fall quilt. I don’t have enough time for all the quilts I want to make!

Personally, I adore using fat quarters to make reversible totes, but you’d need 2 matching fat quarters, plus another 2 (either matching or co-ordinating) for the totes I make. You may be able to use it for a smaller bag or wallet-type of thing, though! A coin purse, maybe? Mix it with some other co-ordinating fabrics & make a couple of piratey-themed place mats? Or make cloth napkins! Ooooh, I could share my pattern on making a knitting needle/crochet hook/paintbrush/make up brush roll-up mat. Love those things! You could make a bitchin little pin cushion!! (Srsly, that would be TOO CUTE.) If it’s something you’d like to use for WareBear, perhaps mod podge the fabric on to some tiles for coasters? Or frame the best section as “art work” for your Captain-man. ;D Or a tiny stuffed animal to keep him company on his desk!!!

Okay…I could go on forever with ideas…I’ll stop. >_<

As for your next project, I LOVE THOSE COLOURS!! So pretty!! I look forward to seeing it finished! I'm almost done with that jelly roll quilt, myself. 😀

Also, if it had been me, I’d have picked the pirates, too. xD bwahaha!! And one more thing: we agree on earth tones! Yay!
