Half of 2016 is done and I’m still floored that we are already in July. Texas has been heating up and I’ve been moving full steam ahead with life. As I explained in my first goal recap, I’ve doing my best to remain diligent in being purpose driven in every aspect of my life.
I cannot explain how important accountability is in adulthood which is why I will continue to be transparent after each quarter with everything that I have set forth in this purpose driven life of mine.
Self-care and accountability have become a staple here on the blog because as a millennial I firmly believe these are two aspects we should really root ourselves in. By having a healthy understanding of both, it benefits our continued growth personally, professionally, and spiritually.
As I told you, I’ve been focusing on my personal goals and blog expectations for 2016.
With my 30th birthday quickly approaching, I told myself that this year I would take control of my health and fitness. After my dad passed away, I let myself slip away and really didn’t care about my weight/health. I then would proceed to get upset with myself. Working out has become an addiction for me and I’m currently in the middle of a 1000 burpee challenge! Believe it when I say that every evening for the last three weeks, I’ve been doing 15 burpees! Since the first quarter update, David and I have done really well with eating at home and meal planning. Fresh smoothies and infused waters are slowly becoming a staple for my weekly meals.
Financially, we’ve had some setbacks with our vehicles. I’m one of those people who absolutely REFUSES to buy a new car unless my current one is on its last leg. It caused us to have to dip in and pay for some small issues. We’ve doubled down on a few other payments and reestablished our budget to really save even more money over the next 6 months. It’ll take some sacrifices, but I’m happy with where we are headed.
Last but certainly not least, this last quarter has been very enlightening with being in the moment with my close friends. I’ve been so fortunate to cultivate a group of friends that make life so much easier. We’ve gone to events, complained about events, enjoyed random shopping trips, danced the night away, and managed to do drunk burpees. We’re only a half a year down with plenty of other adventures ahead of us.
When referencing goals for the blog, we have to revisit Defying Expectations from January 2016.
Glitter Tales: Short Stories for the Millennial has been a success and I am 26 weeks strong right now. I’m pretty lucky that I’ve found my stride with these and been more than willing to revisit a few of my favorite stories that I’ve written over the last few months. It’s finally reaching the point where I’m trying to figure out what to do after this year is over. What I have started doing is adding all of the stories to a Tumblr page to keep in one complete section. If you have any ideas on what to do with short stories, let me know!
Once again, I have to apologize for the lack of fashion posts. Diversity Chic is still a priority and we have had an absolute blast coming up with our themes. I promise that they will not disappoint! I also will try my best to piece together some additional fashion posts in between, but its hard when you are losing weight. My closet is slim pickings these days.
My DIY projects are about to pick up quite a bit and I’m thrilled to share all the fun projects. My crafting space is finally clean and I’ve already gotten 5 projects lined up to tackle over the next few weeks.
Besides these main goals, I’ve been doing pretty well posting 2-3 times a week and have really enjoyed incorporating more millennial advice and tips into the rotation. Since I’ve hit my stride with all of these I haven’t let the newsletter debacle really bother me. I just can’t seem to find the right way to really create a newsletter that reflects what this space is about. I’ve got time to work on it!
