Diversity Chic has officially entered its third year and that alone is surreal to me. We’ve come a long way and I’m thrilled to say that 2017 is going to be pretty exciting. What better way to start the year than to revisit the meaning behind this project. Along with the meaning, I’m going to share a few other fun things aligned with Diversity Chic and the future of this great project.
What Diversity Chic stands for
When we first came up with Diversity Chic, we spent quite a bit of time brainstorming our vision statement of what this project stands for. If you’re new around here, the statement proudly embodies everything we wanted the project to reflect:
Diversity Chic is a collaboration of Dallas bloggers showcasing current fashion trends on a variety of skin tones, hair colors, body types and heights. Each month we will feature a new trend tailored to our personalities and style.
Our focus is to explore the world of fashion in its unique, diverse, and stylish manner – one trend at a time.
I couldn’t be more proud of what we have accomplished over the last 2 years and the trends we’ve covered. We stepped outside of our comfort zones, invited other bloggers to join us, and branched out with a new decade for a throwback feel every year to spice the project up. Each month we continue to break boundaries in new ways!
My Favorite Look from the 2016 Diversity Chic Series
With year two complete, it was hard to narrow it down to just one favorite look. Our trends were incredibly diverse in 2016 from beauty, causes, and just regular old fashion ideas leading the way. When it came down to picking just one favorite look, I opted to go the final one of the year when we tackled – velvet.
This trend was my favorite since it was the first time I had to actually tackle dressing my baby bump. When we did our December shoot, I had found my dress on Amazon and hadn’t tried it on since my body started to change.
I was a nervous wreck the entire December shoot because for once I wasn’t comfortable in my own skin. The reality that the next few months my wardrobe would be dictated by my burgeoning belly was eating away at me.
Then I saw the pictures and remembered our vision.
This was a remember, a testament to what we have always tried to accomplish with Diversity Chic. I discovered my pregnancy would be another diverse aspect to toss into the mix. The December shoot was an eye-opening experience for the future.
What Diversity Chic has in store for my Personal Style
First of all, Diversity Chic has taught me so many lessons about my style and body type. December’s edition showed me that I’m about to learn even more about working with a specific body type. With 2017 leading the way to Baby Girl Ware making her debut this June, my personal style will revolve around this pregnancy. Honestly, I’m looking forward to dressing the bump and showing that you can be stylish with pregnancy.
Link Up with Diversity Chic
Diversity Chic would like to invite you to join us every month with each of the trends we pick. We are planning to host a monthly link up with each DC post! That means you can leave a link to your own look. We want to see your diverse, body positive looks every month along with us. Join us as we tackle Valentine’s Day looks. Plan accordingly and be ready for our first posting of Diversity Chic on February 7th.
Thank you for sticking around for year 3 of Diversity Chic! We really hope that you’ll join us this year for the link up and exploring new trends together in 2017.
