Hello weekend! My bag is packed, the dog sitter is lined up, and around 3:00PM today we’ll be on the road heading to The Woodlands for a weekend of fun. David and I are ecstatic to head down to spend time with Katie and her man, Blair!
I managed to pack last night for the weekend and let’s just say that I’m pretty impressed that I was able to 1. pack a SINGLE bag and 2. make sure all of the essentials are in tow.
Speaking of essentials, let’s talk about the must haves for any road trip. I made sure that as I was packing these were the must have items to help me survive any weekend away from home.
Naturally you need sunglasses on the road as you drive off into the sunset to your destination. I’m pulling out my Cato Fashions Tribal Sunglasses again! They’re cute and inexpensive – so if I lose them, I won’t feel so bad.
2. Portable Battery
A portable battery pack for your iPhone is great in case you get stranded on the side of the road. You can easily charge up your phone for an emergency call to reach help! Also, it comes in handy when you are out and about during your weekend away with friends.
3. Easy to Carry Crossbody
Nobody wants to be tied down to a large handbag! Instead of carrying my full size satchel, I opted to downsize to the flap crossbody. With my ID, important credit cards, and cash tucked away – I was able to carry an insane amount of lipstick and lip glosses for the entire weekend.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my handy dandy iPhone camera. I really do! For a road trip, you want to be able to capture those beautiful moments with a high quality picture for the future. I’ve packed away the fancy camera and am hoping that I can snap an outfit photo or two this weekend.
A road trip wouldn’t be complete without a bomb playlist to get you to your weekend destination. I channeled my inner hippie and curated one of the best playlists with Jimi Hendrix, Fifth Dimension, Looking Glass, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and many more. The tunes will be one of the best part of the trip and a ode to a few of my favorite decades.
Those are my road trip essentials, what are yours? Leave them in the comments (maybe I’ll text the man to add those to my bag at the last minute).
