Monday Hangover

Monday Hangover: Sophisticated Fun

Another weekend down and I’m hoping that yours was just as fabulous as mine.

No modesty there, but I had a pretty awesome weekend! David and I kicked off the weekend at our favorite Bishop Arts joint, Joy Macarons! They were selling a special macaron, Pecan with Maple Crown Royale buttercream filling, and I had to have it. It didn’t take much convincing when I sent David the screenshot.

It was decadent and sold out before the weekend was over.

We followed up with a quick dinner in Trinity Groves (check out my review of Luck on Zomato) and headed over to the DMA for the Summer Block Party and Late Night at the DMA.

They had a DMAmazing Race going on with Superheros vs. Villains since this late night was teen takeover and themed a Superhero evening. I mentioned to David that I wanted to participate in the race and he reluctantly agreed. After deciding that we would be villains, we met up with a friend from the Perot Museum – Nakia – to start the night.

Date night became non existent and the competition got real at this point. The competitive edge kicked in and we were off to win it all. We completed the first floor in no time, made our way through the museum completing answers, and nailed the challenges with ease!

Guess what?!?

WE WON! Our competitive edge totally came in handy, because we were the first villain team to make it back to the table. It was a great evening of cultured fun!

The rest of the weekend was spent with quite a few people that are near and dear to me. I was lucky enough to enjoy a casual lunch with my forever friends. The forever friends are my group of girlfriends spanning back to middle and high school. We hit up La Ventana in Addison for tacos, margaritas, and churros! It was great having the chance to talk to everyone and plan a trip down to visit Katie!

After lunch, David and I ran a few errands before heading home and celebrating Father’s Day with my Al, Claire, and Derek. David went above and beyond for the meal; Derek totally outdid himself with the dessert. It was a great evening of company, food, and showering a great man with lots of love.

How was your weekend?!?!
