I wish I was motivated to do more thrift shopping because when I do I score some pretty sweet pieces. I had a little motivation over the last few weeks with the gorgeous Denise of Beauty and the Pleats organizing a $20 Thrift Store Challenge for a group of fashion bloggers.
I ventured out with David on a Wednesday evening to the Thrift Giant Outlet with a mission to find the perfect $20 outfit that satisfied all my needs.
Let me start this out with, I’m a creature of
habit comfort. If its comfortable enough for me to lounge around in and feel like I’m wearing the silkiest pjs – I’m in. We scoured the shelves high and low looking for something to fit my style and that I could easily wear out and about for my weekend errands. As I was calling it a day with a few items I picked up, I found these amazing blood red shorts that felt heavenly to the touch. My heart skipped a beat because I hate wearing shorts, but as I pulled the hanger out of the rack I knew I needed these. They were flowy and had a hint of pleats in the front. Since I already had this top in my hand that matched it perfectly, I went for them.
Boy am I glad I did! When I checked out with my 3 shirts, blood red pleated shorts, and a black shift dress (which I ended up giving to Stephanie) – I paid a whopping $5.33 cents for all of those clothes. I didn’t get the memo that the Thrift Giant Outlet has 1/2 off Wednesdays. Everything I picked up was 50% off the price originally listened.
After pulling out a pair of sandals that I scored from Marshalls for $10, the shirt and shorts raised my outfit to a total of $12. I’ll take that bow now.
I’ve worn those shorts out and about and I had a stranger ask me if my shirt was Tommy Bahama – ha! Let’s just say that I’m happy with the outfit and it was definitely a fun shopping trip.
Be sure to check out the other outfits and link up with Thursday Threads.
