I’ve quickly adjusted to the fact that 2016, a new year, is in swing. We are 13 days in and like most people I’ve been in full swing with planning for all the expectations of what I want to conquer.
With 2015 at a close, I knew I wanted to move full steam ahead with my blog and a creative space to work on other projects I have in the pipeline. A sanctuary of sorts for my spirit that would not only appease to my creative juices, but help with cultivating those innovative ideas throughout the year.
We all deserve spaces that are easy to be our most functioning selves. A place where as soon as you sit down, you are able to dive right into a project, brainstorming session, or blog posts without any hesitation.
I’m sharing my trade secrets (ha!) to decorating your own creative space in just 3 easy steps! Yup, you read that right 3 EASY STEPS!
Inspiration | Sit down and brainstorm ideas on how you envision your creative space to look. Ask yourself a few questions, such as: What motivates me? What inspires my happiness? What aura do I want to surround myself with? After answering these questions, use them to pull together the look that will benefit the creation of your best work.
Vision | Once your inspiration is nailed down, this is where you can start pulling together a vision of what you want your space to resemble. Go to Pinterest and search “office decor” and check out similar spaces that would fit your decor needs. For example, if you are working with a small portion of a room with limited wall space, view spaces with a similar layout. If you’ve got an entire room, take notes on how to fill up your office space with decorated layouts.

Plan | Go through your current desk situation and find what matches your new inspiration. Keep those items and donate the rest! This is also the perfect opportunity to visit some of your a favorite stores to pick up items to match your creative space. I frequently visit Target (the Dollar Spot has been amazing), HomeGoods, Ross, and IKEA for the best steals and deals. Then you can finally start planning out how your space will look. Just a tip, use a flat space (i.e. your dining room table, see below) to lay out any wall hangings.
After following these three steps, I promise you decorating your creative space will seamlessly come together. It’s that easy!
Once finished, you’ll have a nifty little spot that makes you happy and sparks your creative spirit.
Have fun decorating and be sure to pin this image for future ideas!
