Update on Mom Life, Let’s Talk!

I owe you all another update, because I wrote our birth story (part 1 and part 2) and then disappeared again. You see, I’ve been spending as much quality time with my little one. She’s perfect and if you’ve been following me on Facebook and Instagram, you understand. It’s hard to pull yourself away from such a sweet face (who also just happens to need me to feed her 85% of the day).

I’m still here and ready to share what life is handing me right now.

Update 1 – Baby girl had her first set of shots!

It is true when they say the first shots are harder on the parents than baby. David did a fantastic job, I stood in the background in enough pain for Delilah. After receiving glowing remarks from her pediatrician, Delilah did fantastic with her shots. She only cried when the nurse straightened her legs to prep for the pokes!

I’ll be working for her 4 month appointment, so I’m sure the shots will go just as fine. Especially since my looming presence of fear won’t be in the room.

Update 2 – I’m going back to the gym!

Delilah and I have been walking, but now it’s time for me to step back into the gym. As most of you know, I’m a proud member of Kaia Fit North Dallas and it’s time for me to rejoin my sisters. Our newest Brik session is about to kick off on August 28 and I’ll be there. My goals will be shifted a bit – not reaching for the coveted perfect attendance with baby – but I do plan on pushing myself to a set number of workouts each week.

I’m looking forward to rebuilding all of the hard work that I achieved prior to baby girl’s arrival!

Update 3 – Just shy of two weeks left until I head back to work….

Here’s the thing, everyone tells you it’s hard to go back to work after baby. Working moms, let’s all take a moment and responding with a resounding “DUH!” Most of us have spent as much time as our schedule and finances will allow to bond with our babies. Of course, leaving our precious little ones to reenter the workforce is never easy! Luckily, Delilah will have some extended time with her daddy and I’ll have some peace of mind.

We’ll talk about this more in the future….

Update 4 – Daddy & Daughter time is on the calendar!

With my return to work, David will be taking time off from work to care for the babe. His leave is officially on the calendar and he’ll be with her until Thanksgiving. This gives us plenty of time to figure out our next steps for caring for our baby girl. I have an idea of what I would like to do in 2018, but we need to plan it our strategically to make it all work out in our favor.

I’m thrilled that we are lucky enough that David will get to spend so much time with Delilah and establish a nice little bond with her. It’s definitely going to be hard being away from her, but she’ll be in good hands for a few more months.

Update 5 – SEVITEMBER

We cannot talk about updates without discussing my favorite time of the year, SEVITEMBER. Yes, the most spectacular month of the year is quickly approaching and I’m ready for it. Do I have plans? No. WIll I have plans? Yes. With this being 31 glorious years of life and so many changes in the last year it’ll be a drastic change from previous years. This does not mean I won’t be celebrating, just not how I typically celebrated in previous years.

So this is where we are at. Life has been fast and furious with a baby. She’s been the light of my life and a joy to watch grow. The rest of our lives will never be dull and I’m in a good place to move forward with Simply Sevi. Stick around for the fun!
