What the Heck is Beauty Rest?

I’ll be honest my sleep schedule in 2016 has been crap.

During the week I’m lucky if I get to bed before 11:30PM and let’s not even talk about the weekends. With my work schedule, I really have to do better with getting some shut eye because sleep works wonders on your body, mind, and soul.

I’ve tried everything! The shutting everything down 2 hours before bed, moving my phone into a separate room, among many other remedies that just haven’t worked out. During my numerous tries for a peaceful night of sleep, I am easily awoken by the smallest light in my bedroom whether it be our clock, a flashing light from our router, or a flash from outside with the lack of curtains in our room.

Through it all, I think I finally managed to manage the restless nights for the lady who is easily awoken by the smallest flicker with a nifty little sleep eye mask. My old one has been out of commission for a while now because I used it so much that the elastic was near ripping apart.

So what do you do when you need a new eye mask?!? YOU MAKE ONE! This simple DIY was much needed for me to take hold of my crappy sleeping habits and hopefully regain control of my beauty rest.

I’ve got my new eye mask and decided that I’m going to implement a few drops of lavender oil every night to calm me down before bed. Eventually, adulthood will catch up and I’ll be able to call it a night by 9:30PM soon.

    I love this tutorial! I’ve never used an eye mask but have been thinking about getting one and making one would be even better! I hope you can get some rest soon! I wish I had advice, but I actually have the opposite problem where I can barely stay up past 9:30pm to work on blogging or read! I need more energy!

      It’s so easy and it’s been the most amazing thing I’ve probably ever made. I literally blocks out all the light in my room and I have had no issues with small flickers of light.

        Wow! I am definitely going to try this. I am a super light sleeper, and the slightest noise will awaken me. Have you noticed a difference with using the lavender oil too?

          The lavender oil is amazing!!!! I highly recommend trying it. I usually put a few drops on my arms and under my neck. It really helps with soothing and calming me down before bed.
